My mom just offered me hand sanitizer that expired in 2012.

Sometimes people will refill old containers with new stuff from a big bottle though

    2. Always used to think my grandparents were nuts for not keeping up on their expiration dates for non-food things.

Then I got a house and a family of my own and regularly come across those one off items like medical/health stuff or obscure cooking materials like oils or canned goods that are just years out of date by the next time I think of needing them.

    3. Just don’t drink it or put it in your eyes or use it as lube.

Just use it on your hands. It’s alcohol, FFS. It’ll be fine!

    4. It’s unlikely that it’s really “expired” as in “not working”. It’s probably expired as in “we can’t guarantee effectiveness because we haven’t tested longer than X.

Ooh I have a 2011 that I am saving for a special occasion.

    6. Expiration dates are a way to increase sales, it’s a marketing move, oh by the way check the dwell time for hand sanitizer I thing it needs to be wet on your hand for 4 minutes before it starts to work, bleach is up to 10 minutes with a wet surface.

She likely refills it. I’d be shocked any hand sanitizer made it through covid days unused.

She had her chance to sell high during covid

It reminds me of when Homer invested in pumpkins and planned to unload in november
